Forest Education in PEI
Informed landowners make sound decisions for their land that will have many positive results for PEIs economy and natural environment. With limited woodland owner and forest industry organizations, the community is in need of a development and delivery mechanism for forest education.
Description:
The PEIMFNP will work at the community level to expand the range of knowledge and options available to woodlot owners, local forest-based industries and the public through strong education and demonstration initiatives. This will be done through the implementation of a partnership-developed knowledge transfer program, featuring the following components: Creation of educational opportunities for youth, Increased forest awareness level of the public, Provision of educational opportunities for forest professionals, Showcasing of economic opportunities for woodlot owners, Transfer of knowledge to and from members of the Canadian Model Forest Network and other sites in the Forest Communities Program.
Planned Outputs:
- Development and hosting of a series of educational events (workshops, tours, meetings and classroom activities)
- Record of interest levels of attendees participating at PEIMFNP events.
- Start of research of educational opportunities and delivery systems for woodlot owners.
