Forest Education Program

Purpose:
The PEIMFNP aims to increase the knowledge and appreciation of forests, with emphasis on Prince Edward Island woodlot owners, youth and the general public. the PEIMFNP seeks to establish a greater understanding of the environmental, economic, social importance*s of forests to our collective well being.

Description:
The PEIMFNP will work at the community level to expand the range of knowledge and options available to woodlot owners, local forest based industries and the public through an effective and practical education and demonstration initiative. This will be done through the implementation of a partnership-developed, knowledge transfer program, featuring the following components.

- Creating educational opportunities for youth
- Increasing the forest awareness level of the public
- Providing educational opportunities for forest professionals

Planned Outputs:
- Continue with the development and delivery of educational events (workshops, tours, and meetings).
- Record interest levels of attendees participating at PEIMFNP events.
- Continue to support the Atlantic Teachers Tour.
- Showcase a variety of economic forest opportunities for woodlot owners.
- Transfer knowledge to and from members of the Canadian Model Forest and other sites in the Forest Communities Program.
