About Us

Partnering for Prince Edward Island Forests

Prince Edward Island's forests play a vital role in the Island's culture, environment and economy. The vibrant forest community cares deeply for the health and well-being of all public and private forest lands.

In 2002, Islanders with an interest in forests and forest issues came together to form the PEI Model Forest Network Partnership Ltd. (PEIMFNP). They sought to create a forum where people with differing forest interests and values could work co-operatively to encourage and support research and education initiatives which promote forest stewardship across Canada's smallest province.

The PEIMFNP works with support from the Canadian Model Forest Network,Nova Forest Alliance and the Department of Environment, Energy and Forestry. To date, it has funded a wide range of projects designed to balance todays demands on our forests with those of future generations. By continuing to support stewardship initiatives and keeping the channels of communication open, the PEIMFNP is helping the Island to become a leader in sound and sustainable forestry practices.
